Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 42 — the pack sponsored by Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC! We’re a family-friendly, all-inclusive pack where local kids (K–5) build confidence, learn outdoor skills, and make lifelong friends through fun, hands-on activities. Join us and discover the adventure of Scouting!

Meet Huntersville Pack 42

Pack 42 is a cub scouts pack in Huntersville, NC sponsored by Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

Pack 42 brings together kids in kindergarten through 5th grade for monthly pack meetings, twice-monthly den meetings, camping trips, Pinewood Derby races, STEM projects, and more. We’re sponsored by Hopewell Presbyterian Church and welcome Scouts from any school program or faith background. Learn more about our program, leaders, and how to join below.


Our Program (What We Do at Pack 42)

  • Pack & Den Meetings

    Dens (grouped by school grade) meet twice per month to work on completing fun adventures. The pack (all dens) meets once per month for fun in larger group setting.

  • Camping & Trips

    Pack 42 puts on 2 formal campouts per year (Fall & Spring) while also offering a 1-night “Super Trip”. Great for beginner or experienced campers!

  • Hiking & Day-Outings

    We love to get outdoors for hikes in Pack 42 and we even have miles of trails available to us right on Hopewell Presbyterian’s property!

  • Pinewood Derby

    Our annual Pinewood Derby is a beloved event and great scouting tradition. Prizes for top speeds as well as cool car designs.

  • Service Projects

    Scouts learn to give back to our community trhough an annual food drive (Scouting For Food) as well as other service projects.

  • STEM Activities

    We encourage STEM activities through completing den adventures thoughout the year and other ad hac pack events.

  • Fishing

    Scouts have multiple opportunities to go fishing as part of our activities during campouts, day trips, or summer camps put on by the county. Fish on!

  • Rock Climbing

    Campouts and summer camps take place at nearby locations with awesome opportunities, including some really cool rock climbing walls run by trained adults.

  • Leadership

    Scouts learn the foundation of what it means to be a good citizen and also a good leader.

  • Archery & Shooting Sports

    Scouts get introduced to a variety of shooting sports such as archery and bb guns while at campouts and summer camps.

  • Campfires & S'mores

    If you like s’mores, you’ve come to the right place. We love a good campfire with a ghost story and there will be plenty of opportunties for them with Pack 42.

When we meet

Pack year generally runs September – late May.

Where we meet

In the Family Life Center at Hopewell Presbyterian Church. We have access to the gym, classrooms, a designated “scout hut” building, and many miles of trails to explore. *Note: individual dens may choose to meet a different night if works best for group.

Den Meetings

Meet 2x per month (Tuesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM) with your den. (Dens based on school grade). Den meetings are when scouts complete scout adventures to earn belt loops. At den’s discretion, meetings may sometimes take place

Pack Meetings

1x per month (Tuesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM) at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, in the Family Life Center (gym).

Pack meetings provide an opportunity to present awards to scouts (based on completing den adventures, hiking milestones, etc) as well as fun group-wide activities including traditional scout skits.
