🗓️ Come to our Open House!

The Pack 42 Family and our gracious sponsor, Hopewell Presbyterian Church, invite you to come to our Open House for Prospective Scouts on Saturday August 29, 2026 at 11 AM at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church (10500 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078) to learn about the fun things we do and join into the fun yourself! We’re expecting some of our active scouts + parents to attend with following activites for kids:

  • Zing Bow Archery! (activity)

  • Backyard Bass Fishing! (activity)

  • Hot wheels racing! (activity)

  • Other fun activities!

  • Parents & scouts can learn more about our program, including details for Camping, Hiking, Pinewood Derby, and more!

  • Also a chance to meet Pack leaders and other parents.

We’re planning to be on the grass lawn next to the large Family Life Center (gymnasium). Please stop by for this informal (but fun) event to meet some of the Pack leadership and parents to see what we’re about and ask any questions!

How do I get to the Open House?
Address: 10500 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. The church has 2 driveways and 2 parking lots, so it’s a tad confusing the first time, but bear with us!

  • When approaching from the North, use the Second driveway; when approaching from the South, use the First driveway.

  • We’re planning to be on the grass lawn next to the large Family Life Center (gymnasium)

  • Basically, if you don’t see any scouts outside what appears to be a gymnasium building, then you’re in the wrong parking lot. Please exit and go to the next entrance on Beatties Ford and you’ll see us!

⚜️ More About Pack 42 & Scouting

Dens & Den Meetings:
Upon joining Pack 42, your scout would be assigned to a Den, usually a group of 6-9 kids based on school grade level:

  • Lion Cub Scouts (Kindergarten)

  • Tiger Cub Scouts (First-graders)

  • Wolf Cub Scouts (Second graders)

  • Bear Cub Scouts (Third graders), and

  • Webelos Scouts (Fourth and Fifth graders)

Dens typically meet 2x per month (sometimes as much as 3x per month for Bears or Webelos) to gather and work on their den’s Cub Scout Adventures.

Cub Scout Adventures
Cub Scout Adventures are themed, hands-on learning activities that children complete to earn rank badges and individual recognition. Each adventure focuses on a specific topic like hiking, science, first aid, or citizenship, helping kids build character, teamwork, and outdoor skills. While working on Adventures is the typically den meeting activity, individual dens might often choose to instead meet locally for a hike or another fun outdoor activity like a park/playground when weather is nice.

Pack Meetings
Once a month, all of the dens and family members gather for a Pack Meeting under the direction of a Cubmaster and pack committee (parent volunteers). Pack meetings are a fun time that usually include some den-level skits, recognition of scouts (awards) for their recent accomplishments, and other fun pack-wide activities.

Other Pack-Wide Activities & Outings
In addition to Den-level and Pack-level meetings, Pack 42 plans a number of other pack-wide activities and outings that you can choose to partake in. These include:

  • Pinewood Derby (build a small car from a block of wood and cheer it on in a pack-wide race!);

  • Camp-outs (at least 3 opportunities per year!);

  • Hiking (try to get one on the calendar at least monthly);

  • Community service events (usually 2-3 events per year);

  • Other fun activities (a couple examples include local STEM activities, Veterans Parade, annual trips to the Winter Trail at Whitewater Center, and we visited / camped-out for a Nascar race at Darlington Speedway earlier this year!)

Our Sponsor: Hopewell Presbyterian Church
The Hopewell Presbyterian Church is dedicated to supporting scouting in Huntersville, NC (since 1952!) and provides Pack 42 and Troop 42 with the use of the facilities and grounds as needed to make our program flourish! The Church was founded in 1762 and the Sanctuary is a registered historic building! The Church grounds cover a large area and allow access to hiking trails ON SITE! This is in addition to providing us with access to classrooms, a huge gymnasium with basketball court, and a dedicated “scout hut” building! We’re truly grateful for such an incredible sponsor and they help make scouting FUN and ACCESSIBLE for youth in our area! Please note that there is no requirement to be a member of this church (or any church or any religious denomination for that matter). But we feel VERY fortunate to be associated with such a supportive sponsor like Hopewell Presbyterian.

Scouting’s Overall Mission:
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
